Safeguarding Your Property Against Flood & Earthquake Exposures
Time and again after a major storm devastates a community – whether on the East or West Coast or in the Midwest – we hear about how many homeowners were uninsured and lacked the funds to rebuild. Individuals either believe their Homeowners insurance will step in and cover the damage, or separate coverage is not necessary as their properties are not near water. Unfortunately, Homeowners insurance does not cover flood damage with separate insurance required to protect you. What’s more, flooding can happen anywhere. The same applies with earthquake coverage. A separate policy is needed, but even where earthquakes are part of the landscape, people take a big risk – only 10% of California residents, for example, have coverage.
